Hi all, I hope you are doing well! As we begin June, we are getting for a great adventure. As most of you have heard, I have been appointed to Leon United Methodist Church and Prophetstown United Methodist Church. The two churches will be yoked together. This means that we have an amazing opportunity to join in ministry together. We can help each other and discern where God is calling us to witness to the surrounding community. I ask as we get ready for this adventure that you pray for each church and for me as your pastor. We will need to figure out some things and be ready to follow where God leads us. I believe we will be stronger together and it will bring new opportunities to be in relationship together and with our community. Matthew 28:17-20 says, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Our partnership together will bring new opportunities for all of us, let us join together in community with each other. Pastor Joey

We would like to congratulate all eighth grade, high school, and college graduates who have been a part of our church over the years. We wish you the best in your future and may you always keep God in your heart.

As we told you last month the Mission Committee has decided to help
the tornado victims in our area. We are still working on this….please be patient with us, we’re having trouble getting the information we need. Hopefully, by next month, we will have this taken care of.
We thank you for your support and generosity, without you, we could not help the many people and causes we have throughout the years.

June has arrived, June a special month, as summer will be here June 21st and Father’s Day the 21st. Father’s Day…..that special Sunday we celebrate our Fathers. When looking through my many “treasures” I came across a newspaper article from my Mother’s many “treasures”, now you know where I get it! This
article was from a June 20th, l954 newspaper and was written by Ruth MacKay…..Enjoy!
What Is a Father?
He’s a First Baseman to a Little Boy
He’s a Doll Mender to a Little Girl
A father is someone who leaves early in the morning for a place called “business” but when he turns the corner toward home at night, small feet race to meet him.
He’s the grinning chap who maintains all infants are alike until he has one of his own and is convinced his is the smartest and best-looking baby in the nursery!
He’s a skilled carpenter with a nail and a hammer and can fix a red wagon so it pulls again; he’s a surgeon who mends dolls’ arms and legs with glue and a few rubber bands.
He’s the enthusiast who wonders if Junior, all of two, is the right age for a
set of electric trains because father no longer can contain his eagerness to get down on the floor and play.
He’s the first baseman in the neighborhood softball team; the man in the
audience who furtively blinks away a tear at his young daughter’s graduation; the gentleman in white tie who thinks his womenfolk are wonderful at planning a wedding—if only they could spare him that walk down the aisle.
Poor Father! He has long since ceased to leap to his feet at the first strains of a dance band, weary is he. However, he plays 36 holes of golf and “never felt better in my life!”
He is the mathematical Wizard as long as his offspring are learning the multiplication table, then becomes mysteriously absorbed in his newspaper by the time they progress to algebra.
He’s not one for ballet, modern art, or movies, though he “knows what he likes.”
He is thrown for a loop when his teenager yearns for a Hollywood career, or unexpectedly takes up the saxophone.
He is the member of the family deaf to scandal and impervious to idle rumor. He is a prudent investor although now and then he can be talked into some such folly as a fur coat for daughter, or a convertible for son, both of which audibly he deplores and secretly enjoys.
He is a curious composite of hardness and softness; believes that children should learn discipline and obedience –and is utterly undone by the sight of a little lip beginning to quiver.
He’s the camera fiend whose idea of sport is to get a good shot of his children rather than bag a deer in the north woods.
On a vacation, he is more fun than rollercoasters, picnics and sideshows
which bewilder everyone who doesn’t sense the pressure of his responsibilities the rest of the year.
He can give a backyard game of croquet the excitement of a Wimbledon tournament. His hours at home are happy ones although he insists there is more “infernal noise” in his house than in his factory.
Nonetheless he is a patient person and often quite humble toward his job of fatherhood, being more anxious to understand than be understood.
What is a father? He’s tall and handsome; short and bald; he’s young and
boyish; sedate and settled; he’s broad of shoulder or wide in girth.
He is a counselor, guide and good companion. He’s the contented companion, planting rose brushes beside the garage, the neighbor building a sandbox, romping with the new puppy. He doesn’t say much, but deep down inside him is eternal thankfulness that he is one of the lucky guys to be rearing his
children in America. And when he teaches a little fellow to remove his cap as the flag goes by, there’s enough fullness in Father’s heart to fill the universe.
May each of you Fathers have a day filled with God’s love!

WELCOME CHALLENGING TIMES as opportunities to trust Me. You have Me beside you and My Spirit within you, so no set of circumstances is too much for you to handle. When the path before you is dotted with difficulties, beware of measuring your strength against those challenges. That calculation is certain to riddle you with anxiety. Without Me, you wouldn’t make it past the first hurdle!
The way to walk through demanding days is to grip My hand tightly and stay in close communication with Me. Let your thoughts and spoken words be richly flavored with trust and thankfulness. Regardless of the day’s problems, I can keep you in perfect Peace as you stay close to Me.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds.
–James 1: 2
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
–Philippians 4: 13
You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.
–Isaiah 26: 3
TRUST ME and don’t be afraid, for I am your Strength and Song. Do not let fear dissipate your energy. Instead, invest your energy in trusting Me and singing My Song. The battle for control of your mind is fierce, and years of worry have made you vulnerable to the enemy. Therefore, you need to be vigilant in guarding your thoughts. Do not despise this weakness in yourself, since I am using it to draw you closer to Me. Your constant need for Me creates an intimacy that is well worth all the effort. You are not alone in this struggle for your mind. My Spirit living within you is ever ready to help in this striving. Ask Him to control your mind; He will bless you with Life and Peace.
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.
–Isaiah 12: 2
The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.
–Romans 8: 6
YOU ARE MY BELOVED CHILD. I chose you before the foundation of the world, to walk with Me along paths designed uniquely for you. Concentrate on keeping in step with Me, instead of trying to anticipate My plans for you. If you trust that My plans are to prosper you and not to harm you, you can relax and enjoy the present moment.
Your hope and your future are rooted in heaven, where eternal ecstasy awaits you. Nothing can rob you of your inheritance of unimageable riches and well-being. Sometimes I grant you glimpses of your glorious future, to encourage you and spur you on. But your main focus should be staying close to Me. I set the pace in keeping with your needs and My purposes.

Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.
–Ephesians 1: 4
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
Proverbs 16:9
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
–Jeremiah 29: 11
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
–Ephesians 1: 13-14

OPEN YOUR HANDS and your heart to receive this day as a precious gift from Me. I begin each day with a sunrise, announcing My radiant Presence. By the time you rise from your bed, I have already prepared the way before you. I eagerly await your first conscious thought. I rejoice when you glance My way.
Bring Me the gift of thanksgiving, which opens your heart to rich communion with Me. Because I am God, from whom all blessings flow, thankfulness is the best way to draw near Me. Sing praise songs to Me; tell of My wondrous works. Remember that I take great delight in you; I rejoice over you with singing.

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
–Psalm 118: 24
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
–Psalm 95: 2
The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
–Zephaniah 3: 17
